Born in Stuttgart (Germany) in 1929 I studied natural sciences (pharmacy and chemistry), philosophy and literature, worked 7 years as an assistant lecturer at the university and got doctor’s degree in Natural Sciences. Changing to industry I worked mainly as a manager until 1989. The following 4 years I was active as a free lance consultant of special agencies and in health education, particularly in the new (Eastern) parts of Germany, accompanied by my wife, a physician.

After retirement fromprofessional activities I started writing thus fulfilling a wishful dream from student’s times. For me condition and base for writing books is what I personally experienced. A major interest is the Arctic with all its fascination, particularly scientific subjects, issues of social development and Inuit art. This required extended visits of the Arctic regions, and so my wife and I travelled to the Canadian north-east quite frequently, particularly to Nunavut, the newly installed territory. There we made a lot of friends to whom my books about the Arctic are dedicated.
